Lesson 7: YouTube (continued):
After looking at all of the puppies, I thought I should see what I could find under a search of ‘Libraries’ and how to applied it to a Library Website. I was very surprised to find several Public Libraries already have added their own videos to the YouTube site. Yes, they were a bit like commercials for the library but the list includes:
1) Promotions for story time,
2) How to use the library self check out,
3) Library tours,
4) Interlibrary Loan how to guides,
5) Tutor for help on homework,
6) Instructions on use of the Library {OPAC} then locating the item on the shelf,
7) Book hooks,
8) What is new in the Library,
9) Programs available at the Public Library,
10) The list seems to be endless.
I have to say the video on the internet can be useful in promoting Public Libraries. The uses are unlimited if done in a tasteful manner.
